On Thursday the 29th we went to the Funeral services for my Uncle David. It was a beautiful service. All my cousins did the funeral for their father. I know it must’ve been very difficult but they did a wonderful job. I know my Uncle David was very proud of his children that day.
They included a poem that was my Uncle David’s favorite poem in the program and it really touched my heart it is such a beautiful poem.
A New day
This is the beginning of a new day
God has given me this day to use as I see fit.
I can waste it or use it for good.
What I do today is important, because
I am exchanging a day of my life for it.
When tomorrow comes this day will be gone forever
Leaving in its place something I have traded for it.
I want it to be gain and not loss, good and not evil,
Success and not failure, in order that
I shall not regret the price I paid for it.
After the funeral, graveside and family luncheon we went to my mom and dads and had our Egley Christmas of gift exchange. The kids had a lot of fun and it was very nice to all be together, although we missed Benjamin and Sam. Ben had to work. Mom and Dad gave David and I a new waffle maker, Mom made some cute throw pillows for Katie, a Crocheted Bed doll for Madison and a Messenger bag that can be colored for Jenna and also a bracelet beading kit. Then Isaac got a Transformers bumblebee toy. Madison also got a BB Gun from Grandpa Egley. Then Chet and Stacy had our family this year. They got the 2nd part of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows for us and the girls each got notebooks with special decorated covers and Isaac got 3 books. Then as our family gift Chet took the recent family picture we had him and mom take of us in the Barn on the farm and built a custom frame for it out of wood from a Barn on the farm that has fallen down. I loved this gift!!

On December 30th we took the kids to Temple Square to see the lights it was a good outing. Jenna and I had a little bit of a tiff and were both angry for a short time but overall it was a great evening.
I love that poem from your uncle's funeral! Simply, very well said and it gives ya a lot to think about. It looks like you had a great time with family this Christmas.
